Our Purpose
Have you ever had a stranger show you unusual kindness as you were coming through a crisis in your life? The apostle Paul, along with 275 others, experienced this kindness on the island of Malta. Paul and the others were at sea when caught in a hurricane where they endured violent winds and dangerous waves for fourteen days. They were forced to throw overboard everything of value and purposely had to run the ship aground in order to survive.
The Bible says the islanders on Malta showed unusual kindness, built a fire, and welcomed all of the people who were shipwrecked. The island’s leader was a hospitable and invited them into his home. Paul and his shipmates were honored in many ways. When it came time for them to continue onto Rome, the islanders provided all the needs for their journey. (Acts 28)
This display of charity and kindness to the homeless is an expression of the love of Christ for those in desperate need. This is the purpose of Malta’s ministries to the homeless.
