Transitional Living Center
The Malta Transitional Living Center (TLC) is a four-unit apartment house located in the City of Groton. This center for single men and families in need provides transitional housing and personal mentoring, ensuring a better chance of successfully transitioning from a crisis situation. Each resident is expected to find employment and to pay rent. Since 2002, the TLC has housed ten families (including a Katrina family of seven from New Orleans) and over 50 single men. The house was built in 1910 and sits in a quiet residential neighborhood. Malta and the TLC residents have significantly improved the property and have established ourselves as good neighbors. As with any older house, the building requires a good deal of maintenance. With the help of several local churches, foundations and individuals, Malta has installed all new windows, replaced the roof, painted the building inside and out and upgraded the landscaping of the property. We have an on-going need for financial support to upgrade the apartment furnishings. We are trusting that God will supply this need.
